Heavy-Duty 5×12 ft Galvanized Telehandler Man Basket
This project features a Heavy-Duty 5 × 12 ft Telehandler Man Basket, fully hot-dip galvanized and built for demanding construction and framing work.
The basket is equipped with fold-down side extensions that add approximately 7 ft of platform length, for an extended working platform length of approximately 19 ft when deployed. The longer platform reduces how often the telehandler needs to be repositioned.
Built with heavy-duty, fully welded steel construction, this unit is rated for a 6,000 lb capacity and designed for real job-site use.
Fabrication Stage – Before Galvanizing
These images show the man basket during fabrication, before hot-dip galvanizing. At this stage, all structural components—including fork pockets, floor framing and side structures—are fully welded and inspected before final finishing.
Fully Galvanized & Delivered Unit
After fabrication, the basket was hot-dip galvanized for long-term corrosion resistance. The finished unit was delivered ready for use, with its fork pockets, floor mesh and fold-down side extensions clearly visible.
Why This Customer Switched to ManBaskets.ca
When we delivered this Heavy-Duty man basket, we noticed the customer already had a man basket on site from a different manufacturer. We asked why they had decided to buy from us as well.
According to the customer, the previous basket had been bought several months earlier mainly because of its lower price. After payment, it took nearly two months of repeated follow-ups before that unit was delivered, and the customer also paid high freight costs.
Competing Man Basket Observed on Site
Saeed from ManBaskets.ca inspected the competing basket on site. The photos above show what we observed.
Fork pocket fit: the fork pockets did not fit the customer’s telehandler forks well. The forks were difficult to insert, and the locking pins could not be placed properly.
Welded plate inside the fork pocket: after the customer’s complaints, the original manufacturer—not the customer—welded an additional plate inside the fork pocket to try to correct the fit. After this modification, the customer’s crew reported that the basket moved backward when they tried to insert the telehandler forks, instead of the forks sliding into the pockets.
Floor: the basket had a flat, light-duty mesh floor. In our view it offers less grip than a raised expanded-metal floor with an anti-slip surface, which matters on wet or muddy job sites.
The crew told us they were no longer comfortable using that basket.
Immediate Availability Made the Difference
Frustrated by the delays and the unresolved fit issues, the customer decided to order a Heavy-Duty 5×12 Man Basket from ManBaskets.ca.
At the time of the order, this basket was in stock. The customer placed the order, and we delivered the basket the same day.
Availability and delivery timing for new orders are confirmed in each quote.
ManBaskets.ca Unit in Active Use
At handover, Saeed tested the basket with the customer’s telehandler and confirmed that the fork pockets fitted correctly and the locking pins could be installed properly. With local delivery, handover is also a good opportunity to check fitment with the equipment on site.
As the photos show, the basket was put into service right after delivery. With the fold-down side extensions and its raised expanded-metal floor with an anti-slip surface, the crew was able to continue their work.
Project Summary
This project shows that a man basket’s price is only part of the decision. Fork pocket fit, locking pins that engage properly, the floor surface and overall build quality all affect how safely and productively a crew can work on site.
